What Does a Potato Dream About?
A collection of records of extraordinary potatoes
Family
How can we transform an everyday object with no apparent value like a potato into something extraordinary? In this artistic experimentation workshop for families we will play with potatoes and the various artistic and creative possibilities they offer us.
The potato is an iconic element in the work of Agnès Varda, and we want to pay tribute to this simple basic food with a workshop to explore the various artistic possibilities of tubers. We’ll use different techniques: rubbing, potato printing, and painting the potatoes’ shadows with a paintbrush. Then we’ll transform the results by making drawings, paintings, scans or collages and, all together, create a small collection of dreaming potatoes.
An artistic experimentation workshop to encourage children’s imagination and the emancipatory capacity of creation. The activity begins with a visit to the exhibition Agnès Varda. Photograph, Film, Recycle to discover the filmmaker’s various works that feature potatoes.
