All combine harmoniously in an ode to all-out fantasy that is so radical you feel like you’re sinning just by watching it. Directed by Jaromil Jires, a clear exponent of the Czech new wave of the sixties, this avant-garde film about the awakening of a girl’s femininity is fascinating for its mixture of mystery, eroticism and horror.
