THEBADWEEDS: The Musical About Weeds

THEBADWEEDS is a trans-species music group of human and weed hybrids which, to the cry, “the future is vegetable,” dance the ecological transition. Weeds grow in the most inhospitable, wild, and anarchic places. Their existence is an act of resilience and living proof of resistance. Appropriating the codes of mainstream culture, these strange trans-species and trans-planetary hybrids use humour to show the power of plants for adaptation and transformation, while also embodying the ecological, feminist, and queer transition.

In this creation, Rocío Berenguer offers an irreverent piece inspired in the solarpunk movement, and contributes to the construction of an optimistic future based on present-day concerns. Berenguer combines choreographic composition, poetic text, and musical creation with the aim of composing an ecological tale based on desire and bonds.
