Teatre CCCB
OFFICIAL OPENING
Courses and workshops + Festivals
The CCCB Theatre, the product of remodelling the Old Theatre of the Casa de Caritat almshouse, completes the extension of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), 17 years after the opening of the main building around the Pati de les Dones courtyard.
With the Theatre, the CCCB gains 3,164 m2 which will enable it to organize its programme in better conditions. This is the main rationale of the CCCB Theatre.
The new space includes the Sala Teatre, a multipurpose hall with capacity for 600 spectators, and the Sala Raval, which holds 170 persons.
Gaining an amenity with the capacity and the technical applications of the CCCB Theatre was a pending issue. The extension responds to an objective need that became apparent with the consolidation of the dynamic generated by the creation of the Centre in the cultural life of Barcelona and our country, at the heart of the Raval neighbourhood.
