Sonar, the International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art, is now in its 15th year with a programme that combines established artists such as Yazoo, Justice, Goldfrapp, Camille, Róisín Murphy, Madness, Hercules & Love Affair, M.I.A. and The Pinker Tones with others from the new underground scene.

Plus cinema steps into the limelight of the exhibition spaces at this year's event. Year 15 of Sonar bases its programme on two main threads: the "female factor" in present-day music and "bastardism" as the crossing of musical genres and subgenres.
