1 August Wednesday

Oskar Fischinger, München-Berlin Wanderung
/ 1927 / 3'
Over the course of nearly three months, this master of animation toured the 500 km separating Munich and Berlin on foot, stopping and filming unique stills of the landscapes and faces he found on his way. An interior and exterior journey and landscape.
Abderrahmane Sissako, La vie sur terre (Life on Earth) / 1998 / 73'
On the eve of the year 2000, Sissako, now settled in Europe, returns to Sokolo, a village in Mali, to meet up with his father. There he meets a young girl called Nana, tours the streets, squares, the post office and the countryside and rediscovers the light, the earth, the colours, the beauty of Africa. A glowing film on emotion and the desire to film.

2 August Thursday

Jonathan Hodgson, Feeling My Way
/ 1997 / 8'
A journey from home to work filmed in Super-8 and converted into a collage of animated paintings and texts. The formal and plastic explorations reveal the flow of consciousness.
Wim Wenders, Alice in den Städten (Alice in the Cities) / 1974 / 110'
Disoriented and incapable of writing an article on deepest America, Phil decides to return to Germany with the hundreds of Polaroids that accompanied his erratic journey. At the airport he meets a woman, who leaves him in charge of her daughter, Alice, who also wants to go home. The return to the country of birth becomes a search for identity and European territory. The first of this filmmaker's road movies.
