Thinking In a Turmoiled World
Rahel Jaeggi
Progress and Regression
Debate
The philosopher Rahel Jaeggi, one of the leading voices of contemporary critical theory, talks about how philosophy can help us think about the serious crisis that Europe is going through today.
Throughout her career, Jaeggi has worked on concepts such as alienation, critique and, more recently, the relationship between social change and moral progress. In her latest book, Progress and Regression, she argues that in order to understand the closure of the present, it is essential to promote philosophical discussion on the idea of progress. In a context of war at the gates of Europe, how can the tradition of critical thinking help us to change our perspective on the future and avoid regression? What idea of progress should guide this task?
