Postcard Mural
Workshop to write a postcard to Agnès Varda
Family
Free
Want to send a postcard to Agnès Varda? In this workshop you can write a postcard to the filmmaker and “send it to her” to the home-studio that the artist had at 88, rue Daguèrre in Paris. Together, we’ll create a collective mural of postcards for Varda.
We invite you to explore some of the themes that Agnès Varda addressed in her films—affective relationships, cinema as home and feminist demands, among others—and which are present in the postcards provided in the space. We propose a gesture of affection and intimacy: writing a postcard and “sending it” to Agnès Varda’s Paris home.
Agnès Varda was a great traveller and used postcards as a means of communication throughout her life. She sent and received them from all over the world, painted and decorated like fabulous works of art. Her home-studio at 88 rue Daguèrre in Paris is also an icon for lovers of the work and figure of Agnès Varda. And murals were also the object of her curiosity, as reflected for example in her documentary film Mur murs (1982). This proposal combines all three elements: postcards, home and murals.
