Iran. 30 Years after the Revolution

Thirty years after the revolution that overthrew the western-backed Shah of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran remains a source of widespread international interest and concern, at once in its challenges to regional states and their international allies, Europe and the USA, and in the controversies and uncertainties evident inside the country. Both comparable to other major revolutions of modern times and, in ideology and leadership, markedly different from them, the Islamic Revolution remains one of the most important and intriguing events of the twentieth century.
