David Trueba and Juan Tallón

Sant Jordi Dialogues

Debate

Free

The writers David Trueba and Juan Tallón will speak with the journalist David Guzmán about the similarities of their latest novels Queridos niños and Obra maestra.

The film director and writer David Trueba presents his most recent novel Queridos niños (Anagrama, 2021), an ironic tale about the world of politics. He is joined by the writer Juan Tallón who will speak about his Obra maestra (Anagrama, 2022), a work which, halfway between fact and fiction, is a critical, satirical portrayal of the contemporary art milieu based on a real event: the disappearance in 2006 of a thirty-eight-ton work by Richard Serra from the Reina Sofia National Art Museum. What are the limits between fact and fiction? Is fiction a tool for making reality more bearable, is it the most trustworthy portrait of reality?

The Sant Jordi Dialogues is a project of Biblioteques de Barcelona (Barcelona Libraries) which has the support of Barcelona City of Literature, the CCCB, and Catalan PEN.
