Good practices in data searching and visualisations
Debate
The Data Journalism work sessions aim to be practical sessions with two objectives: to learn and make inroads into working with data through workshops, and to raise awareness regarding local projects.
5 p.m. – 6.16 p.m. // Where can we find public data, in what format, and how often are they published?
Àngels Llorens will show us how to locate data in the sphere of statistical information on the demographic, social and economic situation. She will show us formats, their possibilities and their limitations. She will explain what tabulated data are and how to access microdata.
6:30 – 8 p.m. // Good practices in information visualisation.
Víctor Pascual will focus on common errors and will explain new techniques. Workshop focusing on the most basic theoretical concepts of information visualisation. When is it necessary to make use of a bar graph? When is it not a good idea to use a pie chart? Plus, new “visual metaphors” will be introduced that facilitate understanding of sets of complex data.
