Kosmopolis Programme 2024
Colm Tóibín
The Passionate Imagination
Debate
Colm Tóibín, one of the most relevant writers of the Anglo-Saxon literary scene, talks with Àlex Vicente about the power of imagination in artistic and literary creation.
Every work of creation, whether artistic or literary, has a starting point, a mark on a canvas or a word on a blank sheet of paper, which often acts as a solution to set the imagination free. In this talk, Colm Tóibín reflects on this phenomenon based on La mirada captiva, an unpublished compilation of essays on artists such as Miró, Calder, Barceló and Tàpies, published by Arcàdia. The session also coincides with the publication of his latest novel, Long Island (Lumen and Amsterdam, 2024), continuation of the renowned Brooklyn (Lumen, 2010, and Amsterdam, 2017).
Moderators: Àlex Vicente
