The debate takes as its leading thread a selection of excerpts from their films.

The two directors have chosen a film by a third filmmaker they consider to be related to the cinema of the other. Albert Serra has chosen Heaven's Gate (Michael Cimino, 1980) and Lisandro Alonso selects Alphaville, a strange case of Lemmy Caution (Jean-Luc Godard, 1965)
