BCNmp7. The progressive rock of the 70s in the Peninsula

Musics in process

Scene + Music

Our history is full of musical phenomena that have not received sufficient coverage. One particular event that represented a huge breach was the emergence of progressive rock in the late 60s and early 70s in Barcelona, setting itself up as the vanguard of a new way of making music based on rock, psychedelia and the hippie movement. Under a harsh dictatorship, this breath of fresh air turned a new generation of musicians into a point of reference throughout Spain. This awakening produced groups such as Màquina!, the unclassifiable Música Dispersa, Om, Pau Riba’s Dioptria, Vértice, Mi Generación, etc.

This session sets out to recover, in a series of debates and performances, these historic movements and evaluate their relevance and their importance today.

Taking part in the debates are Karles Torra and Àlex Gómez-Font, with performances by Get to Màquina! (playing the repertoire of Màquina!) with some of the members (Emili Baleriola, Jordi Batiste) and the collaboration of Asimètric, and Toti Soler with Arnau Figueres playing Guitarra Catalana.
