Crimes against Humanity: In the Shadow of Auschwitz

People often talk about “crimes against humanity”, a term that is sometimes used abstractly although it has very specific origins, namely with the Holocaust. Donatella Di Cesare, who has made a valuable contribution in the field of Holocaust studies, sheds light on the fact that, contrary to the general belief, the Holocaust is not a finished, closed chapter in human history but, rather, we are still living in the shadow of Auschwitz because, once introduced into history, monstrous events can be repeated.
