Mònica Bernabé, President of ASDHA, the Association for Human Rights in Afghanistan, and journalist in Afghanistan Born in Barcelona, she studied Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has worked as a freelance journalist in Afghanistan since July 2007. She is the only reporter from Spain permanently established in Afghanistan. In 2010, she was awarded the Julio Anguita Parrado Prize for international journalism. Whilst publishing most of her articles in the newspaper El Mundo, she also contributes to Radio Nacional de España (RNE), Catalunya Ràdio and Canal Sur TV. Previously, she worked for the newspaper El Punt, specialising in immigration and gender issues. In 2000, after her first trip to Afghanistan, she founded ASDHA, the NGO she now presides, and has visited Afghanistan every year since then.
