Enrique Vila-Matas (Barcelona, 1948) is a narrator and essayist. His work has been translated into 32 languages. Standing out among his works are Historia abreviada de la literatura portátil (1985), Suicidios ejemplares (1991), Hijos sin hijos (1993), Bartleby & Co. (2004), Montano (2007), Never Any End to Paris (2011), Doctor Pasavento (2005), Exploradores del abismo (2007), Dietario voluble (2008), Dublinesca (2010), Aire de Dylan (2012) and Kassel no invita a la lógica (2014). Among other prizes, he has won that of Ciudad de Barcelona, el Premio Rómulo Gallegos (2001), the Premio Herralde (2002), the Premio Nacional de la Crítica en España (2003), the Critics Prize in Chile (2003) the Prix Médicis-Etranger ( 2003), the Internazionale Ennio Flaiano (2005), the Real Academia Española Award (2006) the Internazionale Elsa Morante in 2007 for El viajero más lento, the Premio Internazionale Mondello for Doctor Pasavento 2009), the Premio Leteo in León for the body of his work (2010) and the Prix Jean Carrière for Dublinesca (2011). His last book is Mac y su contratiempo (2017).
