Andy Oram

(Washington, United States, 1955)

A publisher and researcher, he has been working for some years at O'Reilly Media, a publishing company founded by Tim O'Reilly that specialises in computers and information technologies. As a publisher, his interest has been focused on free software, and he was one of the first in the United States to publish books about the Linux operating system. At the same time, his research has led him to publish Peer-to-Peer (2001), an essay on the emerging technologies that helped to develop concepts such as Web 2.0. He is a member of the organisation Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility and author of numerous articles published online.

He is currently interested in working with communities of users to create their own documentation.
