he documentary Catalunya negra (Black Catalonia) by Gilbert-Ndunga sets out to analyse the identity conflicts of the second generation of Catalans of sub-Saharan origin. The documentary tells four stories in the first person: those of Axel Serrat Aboton (Barcelona), Sanata Dembele (La Fulliola, Lleida), Tidiane Diedhiou (Barcelona) and Fàtima Yara (Teià). The particularity of each personal story is vital to understanding the magnitude of the identity issues being faced by the second generation of sub-Saharan immigrants.
