Marta Gili
Art curator and critic
An art critic, curator, and teacher specialising in contemporary photography and visual arts, Marta Gil studied History of Art. Her area of work is photography and the moving image and she also explores issues of gender and representation. She has worked with several galleries and museums, among them the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M) and the Reina Sofía National Art Museum in Madrid. After heading the department of Photography and Visual Arts of “La Caixa” Foundation in Barcelona, Marta Gili was director of the prestigious Jeu de Paume Museum in Paris (2006-2018), thus becoming the first non-French woman to head one of the great Parisian museums. She has been recognised for her valuable contribution to critical discourse on the image in contemporary society and has published articles and pieces in numerous magazines and catalogues.
