Xcèntric Archive. An introduction to experimental cinema

Guided visit

This Winter, we offer guided visits free of charge that work as an introduction to experimental cinema as well as a way to discover the Archive's content. They will be presented by Xcèntric's programming team.

Cinema Without a Camera

25 January and 19 February 2020

There is no need for camera to make a film. The works of Man Ray, Len Lye or Stan Brakhage prove that the artistic exploration of the possibilities of the cinematographic medium exceeds the act of filming. Either through direct animation, in the case of Norman McLaren, or by darkroom work and manual contact printing, like Peter Tscherkassky, this group of films brings both technical and expressive innovations.

Experimental Cinema

29 January, 15 and 22 February 2020

An introductory approach to the history of experimental cinema through which to discover the main milestones, the most influential currents and some of the most radically free filmmakers of this anti-industrial, imperfect, imaginative, sensory and playful cinema.
