Fitting In
Collective memories of Asian diasporas
Courses and workshops
Free with pre-booking
Catàrsia, the collective of people of Asian descent, offers this open meeting for engaging with and seeking answers about memory, community, and Asian identity.
FITTING IN is an open encounter, halfway between an installation, workshop, game, and collective creation designed by Catàrsia, an association of people of Asian origin. Catàrsia offers three proposals that play with the idea of the boxes that migrant communities exchange with friends and family members from their places of origin to raise a constellation of questions around diaspora, loss, identity, and memory: what does it mean to be “Asian”? What is a community and who is a part of it? What strategies for defence and resistance can we create in places that systematically efface us? Using intuition, emotion, and political imagination, Catàrsia offers a session that intertwines reflection and memory to collectively explore tools and schemas for imagining other possible paths and worlds.
