Free with pre-booking

The CCCB joins in the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Antoni Tàpies and hosts a concert by the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in front of a work by Tàpies on show as part of the Agnès Varda exhibition.

Agnès Varda had connections with and an interest in Catalan art. The CCCB exhibition includes, among other pieces, the Antoni Tàpies painting Ocre-gris sobre marró (Ochre-Grey over Brown, 1962), which dialogues with an excerpt from Varda’s documentary film Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse (2004). In this film, Varda looks at the ceiling of her house, sees a damp patch, and says it reminds her of a work by Tàpies.

To mark the centenary of the Catalan painter’s birth, we’re holding a small concert by ESMUC students: Andrea Pérez (flute), Carlos Isla (clarinet), Enric Jaume (piccolo) and Celia Juan (cello), who will perform the piece "Four6" by John Cage in the exhibition Agnès Varda. Photograph, Film, Recycle. Preceding the performance, Jordi Costa will make a brief introduction to Varda's relationship with Tàpies and Catalan art.

The cycle of concerts is called Antoni Tàpies’ Suitcase.
