President of the Urban Age Institute, an organism that is concerned with projects of strategic urban planning, environmental planning and poverty reduction, he has worked in the World Bank for more than seventeen years, his positions including that of director of the urban sector of the World Bank Institute. He has also been working for more than thirty-five years on urban development issues in Latin America, South and East Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa. He has taught at Stanford and Berkeley universities and has published Leadership and Innovation (World Bank, 2004) and The Quiet Revolution (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2003).
