Mónica López Ferrado

Mónica López Ferrado is a well-known science journalist who specialises in biomedicine and the environment. She has a degree in Science, Medical and Environmental Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Master’s degree in Scientific Communication from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), where she also completed a PhD in Social and Audiovisual Communication. She has been a scriptwriter and director for several television science programmes, among them De la Terra (Of the Earth, C33), the programme about pets Pelopicopata (Antena3), Redes (Networks, TVE), as well as for new media in Internet dealing with health, such as Canal Salut of the Catalan Government, and Xplore Health. She has worked in the health and science sections of the newspaper El País and also Ara. Moreover, she has been area coordinator and researcher in the Master’s Degree course in Scientific Communication at the UPF and was recently awarded the Mathematics and Society Prize of the Ferran Sunyer Foundation and the Institute of Catalan Studies.
