Maggie O'Neill

Professor of Criminology at the School of Applied Social Sciences at Durham University, she previously taught in the universities of Loughborough, Staffordshire and Nottingham Trent. In particular, she is interested in prostitution and its impact on communities, as well as forced migration and exile. She is a member of several research groups and organisations, including the Refugees and Humiliation project. She is co-director of the Centre for Sex, Gender and Sexualities at Durham University and president of the European research network European Biographies. Her most recent books are Transgressive Imaginations: Crime, Deviance and Culture (with L. Seal, Palgrave Macmillan, 2012) and Asylum, Migration and Community (Policy Press, 2010).
