Louise McNally

Professor of Linguistics at the Pompeu Fabra University

With a PhD in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, she has been a lecturer at Indiana University, Ohio State University and the University of California, San Diego. Since 1995 she has been working as a lecturer and researcher at the Pompeu Fabra University, where she has been Professor of Linguistics since 2008. She has occupied several governance positions at this university where she has been vice-rector for Research, vice-rector for Faculty Affairs, and vice-rector for Teaching Staff. She is a member of the GLiF Formal Linguistics Group and her research is concerned with interpretation of natural language. Although her approach has been based on the tradition of formal semantics, she has recently become interested in statistical models of meaning in natural language. Among several awards she has received in recognition of her work is the ICREA “Acadèmia” award, in 2009 and 2014.
