Karol Bergeret

Artist, multidisciplinary creator and industrial designer

Born in 1975 in Barcelona, Karol Bergeret has a degree in Industrial Design from the School of Design in Sabadell. Her interest in merging disciplines has led her to work in various fields such as lighting, interior design, image and fashion, which is also why in 2001 she set up Taller d'idees de Barcelona, where she works on cultural and artistic projects such as Santas Amas de Casa, especie en extinción, a project of lit sculptures based on reused ironing boards in a tribute to the women who devote their lives to family and home, free of charge and with no acknowledgement of their work. In 2006, she received a Special Mention in the ARTFAD Awards for her collection of works La Camarera, la Proveedora, la Costurera, la Cocinera, la Pastelera, la Electrodoméstica y la Nodriza, which she later completed with another seven pieces, winning her a production grant from the FEM ART show and second prize in ARTFAD. In 2010, she was selected for the exhibition Synthesis at the FAD and was involved in the exhibition Form and Colour at Galeria N2 in Barcelona. Her work has been shown at the ART BEIJING art fair, the Instituto Cervantes in Beijing and Shanghai, and at CosmoCaixa’s Reciclamadrid festival, among others. For the artist, it is a tradition to organize an exhibition or a project every International Women’s Day.
