Journalist
José Eduardo Agualusa studied Agriculture and Forestry in Lisbon and he works as a journalist. He has lived in Lisbon, Luanda and Rio de Janeiro. Between 2001 and 2002 he spent thirteen months living in Berlin, as beneficiary of a literary creation grant from the German Academic Exchange Service, and it was during that period that he wrote O ano em que o Zumbi tomou o Rio. Previously he published the novels A Conjura (1988), Rainy Season (1997), Creole (1998) and Um Estranho em Goa (2000). His works have been translated into several different languages.
