Yoshi Hioki is a painter and narrator, and has been resident in Barcelona since 1991. He gained a degree in Fine Arts at Barcelona University. He is a member of the Storytellers' Association (ANIN), and takes part as speaker and lecturer in the cultural activities of the Ethnological Museum of Barcelona and Asia House.
He has always been fascinated by reading and listening, but it was his meeting with the brilliant Mexican storyteller, Martha Escudero, that launched him into the world of oral storytelling, and since 1999 he has devoted himself to the professional telling of Japanese stories, myths and literary narratives of all times, for both children and adults. He has been involved as a storyteller in various storytelling marathons, symposiums and festivals held all over Catalonia, in other Spanish cities, in Brazil, etc.
