Professor of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy at the University of Valencia, Spain, he has been Director of the Colegio de España (College of Spain) in Paris ( Cite international universities de Paris) since 2005 and is also founder and director of the Instituto de Derechos Humanos (Human Rights Institute) at the University of Valencia. An expert in migration, he has worked on migrant policy, minorities, citizenship, racism, xenophobia and other problems in the domain of human rights. He was President of CEAR (Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid, 2008 - 2009) and is a member of the Follow-up Commission for the National Human Rights Plan. He has published more than two hundred articles and some twelve books. Moreover, he is founder of the “Cinema and Law” university network and of the research group “Cinema and Migration” besides his work as director of the “Cinema and Law” and “Human Rights” collections of the Tirant lo Blanch publishing house and being on the editorial board of the Spanish edition of Le Monde Diplomatique.
