Janne Teller

(Copenhagen, 1964)

Janne Teller is an economist. Of Austrian-German descent, she has lived and worked all over the world with humanitarian and conflict resolution matters in places as diverse as Tanzania, Mozambique and Bangladesh. In 1995, she left her professional career with the United Nations to concentrate fully on her literature. She currently divides her time between Copenhagen and New York.

Janne Teller's literature also includes essays and short stories and has received numerous literary grants and awards over the years. Her philosophical books have repeatedly sparked controversy and heated debate in Denmark and increasingly also elsewhere. Teller is also author of the novels Odin’s Island (1999), The Trampling Cat (2004), Come (2008) and Nothing (2011). Her works have been translated into fourteen languages.
