Bob Stanley was born in 1964 and is an English musician with the pop group Saint Etienne, a film producer and a DJ. Stanley has also written as a music journalist for Melody Maker, Mojo, The Guardian, NME and The Times. In the course of his career he has managed different record labels, from Caff—which released singles by Manic Street Preachers, Pulp and The Claim—to Icerink and EMI Disco. Stanley has also written erudite sleeve notes for compilations by Joe Meek, Sandie Shaw and The Searchers. In September 2013 he published his second book, Yeah Yeah Yeah: The Story of Modern Pop (Faber), an encyclopaedic history of pop music.
