He has a PhD in Communication Studies and is an editor and a teacher of creative writing.

He began his artistic career as bass player in a punk group and worked as a freelance writer for five years.

 

He has published the novels Tao ljubezni (1996, Closer to love) and Plamenice in solze (1987, Torches and tears); four books of short stories, including Skinswaps (1990) and Zakon želje (2000, Law of desire), and several essays. His works have received some of the most prominent prizes in Slovenia, such as the Zlata Ptica, and have been translated into English, German, French and Spanish.

His latest work is Neonski pecati (2005, Neon seals), essays on literature in the digital era.
