Alejandro de la Fuente
Associate Professor of History and Latin American Studies and director of the Ph.D. programme in History at the University of Pittsburgh, he is also an editor of the Hispanic American Historical Review. Among his most notable publications are Havana and the Atlantic in the Sixteenth Century (University of North Carolina Press, 2008) and A Nation for All: Race, Inequality, and Politics in Twentieth-Century Cuba (University of North Carolina Press, 2001), which was published in Spanish as Una nación para todos: raza, desigualdad y política en Cuba, 1900-2000 (Madrid: Editorial Colibrí, 2001). His writings on race, slavery and other Cuban issues have appeared in specialist reviews in Cuba, the United States, Spain, England, Brazil, Italy, Germany and Holland and have been translated into several languages.
