This English novelist and critic was interested in a range of mystical and spiritual themes, for example parapsychology and mystical philosophy, which were the subjects of some of his books. It was he who once again took up the idea of perennial philosophy, a term that was first used in the sixteenth century and that suggests the existence of a universal set of truths and values that are common to all peoples and cultures.

Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki
He was one of the main people involved in preparing the ground to ensure that other Ch’an and Zen masters have subsequently become known. With his many books and essays on Buddhism, Zen and Shin, he fostered western interest in Zen and Shin spirituality. Furthermore, he was a great translator of Chinese, Japanese and Sanskrit literature.
