Thomas Bernhard

Jean-Pierre Limosin, 1997, France, 48', OVS. French

This documentary explores the eccentricity and paradoxical coherence of one of the great European writers of the second half of the 20th century.

Thomas Bernhard was opposed to a biographical approach of any kind, and yet his work is constructed with autobiographical material. Bernhard didn't want to expose his private life, but he took part in various public scandals and radical prises de position, including the voluntary embargo on his work in Austria.
