Event

This month, Nicolás Méndez

This month Screen at the CCCB joins the LOOP festival of videoart and shows the excellent work of JAUME PITARCH (Barcelona, 1963).

"Nicolás Méndez prefers lines to shadows, girls in boys' clothes to boys in girls' clothes, Jackie Wilson to Bob Dylan. For Nicolás, the verb comes before the adjective. For this reason you can see experiments in his films but his films are not experimental. He finds joy in the movement of things, beauty in fragility and fragility in the preciseness of the unexpected. For this reason, in his films there is play, skin and expectation: bubblegum bubbles that explode, bitten down cigarettes, balls that set off traps that set off balls, invisible sparks that turn on tigers, girls shivering on sports grounds and the wild desire to dance rock and roll until death do us part. Everything is photographed and mounted exquisitely. Of course. This is why he prefers lines to shadows, girls in boys' clothes to boys in girls' clothes, Jackie Wilson to Bob Dylan."
