BookCamp 2011 Session: What can we do to get them to read us?
Facebook brings together around 70 million Spanish speakers (Internet World Stats, Inside Facebook), 16% of the Spanish speakers in the world. Considering the fact that most of these people live in Third World countries, where books are a luxury, social networks are presenting themselves as an opportunity to capture larger reader audiences.
This session will share experiences and tactics used by small-scale authors and editors to get their material read. We will look at specific tools that can be used to increase exposure to social networks, such as manufacturing authority and presence, involving and retaining readers and also how to improve Google rankings. The many topics to be discussed will include tactics for boosting Twitter followers, plug-ins for automatic publication on social networks, and own domain versus the free services option.
