Robyn Hitchcock

Concert: Speaking of Fantasy

Former leader of the The Soft Boys and one of the most incisive voices of pop today, Hitchcock is a high-risk author and caustic narrator who evokes the more benign forms of madness. The wide-ranging career of this musician, writer, painter and sporadic actor is marked by a heightened melodic sense expressed in such resounding albums as I Often Dream of Trains (1984).

Hitchcock's acid-pop vision constructed over iconoclastic fantasy goes with a sense of humour that makes him unique. He rounds off his works with small stories written in the margins of the music and in the booklets of his discs. Always tending to fantasy and surrealism, and apparently minimalist - only bass and guitar - he is coming to Kosmopolis to give us a run-through of the best of his repertoire, the vanishing point of modern pop.
