Book presentation: "La invención de Irlanda" by Declan Kiberd

"La invención de Ireland", a must for anyone who wants to know about Irish literature, tells with erudition and humour how a culture “invented” a nation. The book is a translation of Inventing Ireland, an essay that won the Oscar Wilde Award for Literary Achievement and the Irish Times Literature Prize for Non-Fiction.

 

Declan Kiberd (Dublin, 1951) is Ireland's best-known essayist and literary theorist. His books include Synge and the Irish Language, Men and Feminism in Modern Literature and Irish Classics. He writes for Irish newspapers and is a lecturer at University College Dublin.
