Slam Contests first appeared in the United States and have slowly spread throughout the world. The patently social content of its poetry and the fact that the texts are created to be recited distinguish slam poetry from traditional western poetry.

Directors of the leading European festivals of the genre - Pilote le Hot of Slameur (France), Etrit Hasler, Silvia Grijalba of Palabra y Música (Spain) and José Luis Cabeza - will come together in this panel discussion to reflect on where the movement, which has ever-greater numbers of followers in Europe, is heading
