In her new film, Moyra Davey approaches autobiography in the form of historical research. With the birth of Romanticism, the life of Mary Wollstonecraft, English writer and defender of women’s rights, and her daughters—Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein), Fanny and Claire, the “Goddesses” in question— intertwines with Davey’s own.
