Nine Poems in Basilicata

Antonello Faretta, (Third Part: Poems 7, 8 and 9), Italy, 2007, 55’, OVSS.

Nine poems, nine scenes and a single poet: the mythical John Giorno. Nine Poems in Basilicata is more than a film; it is an audio-visual book that one may read in its entirety or by chapters, and which is still being written. It deals with a visual confrontation between Giorno's voice and message and the landscapes of southern Italy, where the poet's family comes from. The director wants to return to a sort of Greek Arcadia.
