Món Llibre 2010

Children's Book Festival

Món Llibre, a festival of literature aimed at children up to the age of 12, will take place on 17 and 18 April. The festival was created in 2005 in the framework of the Year of the Book and Reading, with a format and conception that make it unique in Europe.

From the outset, Món Llibre was conceived by the Barcelona Culture Institute as a book festival for children and young people, with a completely different outlook to the more commercial approach of existing national and international festivals.

Taking part this year are more than 40 of Barcelona’s publishers of literature for children and young people, as well as the city’s libraries, represented by their Consortium. The CCCB and the MACBA will open their doors for the occasion, along with their respective bookstores (Laie and La Central).

Món Llibre is a much-needed festival with a singular format that usually attracts over 12,000 people in the course of a weekend.

Món Llibre also promotes and creates activities directed at children, all somehow linked to books or literature. Artists in different disciplines, many of them exponents of the very latest in creation, will be taking part in the Festival, presenting projects, shows, talks or activities that offer new ways of “reading” the world.
