Metamorphosis: a map beyond the CCCB
Activities programmed at museums and other venues in Barcelona and Catalonia related to the universes shown in the exhibition “Metamorphosis”:
- Discover a true cabinet of curiosities at the Botanical Institute of Barcelona- Barcelona Natural History Museum. From 15 March, the Botanical Garden of Barcelona presents the exhibition Salvadoriana. Treasure of Scientific Heritage.
- Selection by the Quay Brothers at the Frederic Marès Museum. From 22 April, it will be possible to visit the Frederic Marès Museum with the showing of a selection of objects from the Collector's Cabinet singled out personnaly by the Quay Brothers.
And we also recommend a visit to:
- Museu del Joguet de Catalunya. «Exhibition window...» dedicated to Czech animator txeca Hermína Tyrlová and the figures of Ferda the Ant and Kuku that she gave to the Museum.
- Museu del Castell de Peralada. This museum, inside a castle, houses a magnificent late-19th century library and rich collections of antique glass and ceramics.
- Museu del Cinema Col·lecció Tomàs Mallol. A collection of the devices that left our great grandparents open-mouthed, to discover what the first cinema screenings were like.
- Teatre Lliure. Performance of the work by Franz Kakfa Informe per a una acadèmia (A Report to an Academy). Directed by Xavier Ricart and Ivan Benet. From 8 to 25 May 2014.
- La Puntual. Puppets programme that during the months of May and June will be connected with the exhibition “Metamorphosis”.
- Museu dels Autòmats del Tibidabo . We recommend a visit to this spectacular collection of automata, with 42 original pieces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, representative of different cultural traditions, situated inside a modernist building.
- Antic Amfiteatre Anatòmic. Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de Catalunya . We recommend a visit to the Sala Gimbernat, a unique space corresponding to the old School of Surgery, which conserves the old 18th century anatomical amphitheatre. Visits (donation required): Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Closed during the month of August.
With entry into any of the above museums and shows you can get a free entry ticket into the “Metamorphosis” exhibition by presenting the corresponding ticket at the CCCB ticket office.
