Mediterranean, Sea of Peoples

Lecture by Erri de Luca

“Into the embrace of its waves, merchants and city founders, sowers of seeds and invaders, religions and music have embarked. We Mediterranean people are the result of intense mixing of ethnic groups and lineages.” In his lecture, Erri de Luca recalls that the Mediterranean, historically a privileged place of meetings and exchanges, has now become an impenetrable border, a cemetery and the antechamber of closed lands.
