Kanakster, Isch Lebe Für Hiphop!

Klaus Sanders, 2001, Germany, 56’, OCVS

Hip-hop is a liberating means of expression for "Kanakster" youngsters of Germano-Turkish origin who use the word to struggle against racism, drug addiction and violence. In order to abolish linguistic frontiers these kids express themselves in German as well as in Turkish, Italian and English, intermingling their day-to-day reality in their lyrics. Guided by writer Feridun Zainoglu, we are present at freestyle rap concerts and improvisations.
