Despite her limited production—some 15 shorts and two long films—Canadian Joyce Wieland (1931-1998) is considered one of the great experimental filmmakers of the 1960s and 1970s. Her work incorporates a highly personal view of themes such as feminism, nationalism and ecology. Lauren Howes, director of the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre, which has recently published her complete works on DVD, will present a selection of her best work, giving us a rare chance to see these films.
