John Giorno

John Giorno, one of the most important contemporary American poets, is also a key figure in Spoken Word and performance poetry in New York. In his performance Everyone Gets Lighter, John Giorno uses neologisms taken from real life to transform a personal relationship with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and William Burroughs to create a fascinating audio-visual experience.

"Everyone Gets Lighter" is also one of the nine poems included in the film by the Italian director Antonello Faretta in Nine Poems in Basilicata (1973), which is being presented in Canal Alfa.
